OCTOBER HAPPENINGS
LUNCH at Wheeler High School Hunger Awareness
Concert - OCTOBER 20, 2006 |
Joe Gray, Vice-Chairman of the Council of Elders of
the Mohegan Tribe presents LUNCH with a $500 donation |
Bill and Kay discovered a new instrument as they
traveled in Vermont. This Fire Organ is played by sticking blowtorch
into the bottom of the metal pipes. The sound is quite unusual,
but you probably won't be seeing one of these at a LUNCH concert anytime
soon. |
AUGUST - SEPT HAPPENINGS
Bill and Kay returned from Seattle,
where they performed and gave a great songwriting workshop - and had the
opportunity to hike through the forests of the Cascades with a stop at the Falls
LUNCH hosted a
Voices for Hope
gathering on August 26, and then on August 27, the Ensemble kicked off
the the season, appearing at the annual outdoor CSA Showcase at JB Williams Park
in Glastonbury, at 1pm
From August 31-Sept 4, Bill and Kay are in
Philadelphia as presenters at the
4th annual Independent Music Conference.
On Sept 23, Nationally known LUNCH
artist Les Julian appears at
Mystic River Folk, and will be joined by the Ensemble on some songs.
Les appeared in the first 4 Chapin Legacy Shows, has organized several events of
his own, and co-wrote "Give the Children a Tomorrow" and "Donkey in a Ditch"
with Bill.

LUNCH 2006 SUMMER CAMP was a great success
In this, our 11th year, 50 kids, counselors, and
Ensemble members
spent a week at Camp Wightman, putting on 2 great shows for a standing room
crowd in the NEW Performance Center.

VOICES FOR HOPE
NEWS: Bill and Kay were at the opening of the national tour
of "Brooklyn the Musical " in Hartford on June 20, which also
featured Voices For Hope winner Jaclyn Sabogal.

Bill and Kay were
judges at the finals of the Voices For Hope Contest, sponsored by LUNCH and New
Generations, in partnership with Brooklyn the Musical, and the Bushnell Center
for the Performing Arts. The 15 finalists were an amazing group of
talented individuals. One of LUNCH's own members, Rachelle Seney
(last kid on the right, back row) was one of the 8 winners.
Below are the 15
finalists with the professionals who served as judges.
Rachelle performed with the cast on June 25 at the final
Hartford performance of the show.
In the cast was the legendary Melba Moore, and American Idol runner up Diana
DeGarmo, who played the title role.

Bill and Kay are back from Dallas where they presented workshops and performed
at a music conference. They also met some interesting folks who happened to be
in town, who perhaps heard that the 2006 LUNCH Holiday Show is "Christmas
with the Super Heroes", and that Kay's next CD will include her "Wonder Woman"
song.

APRIL-JULY 2006
HAPPENINGS:
RECORDING UPDATE: The long awaited new LUNCH CD
"Dare to Dream"
is more than half done. The Ensemble has been having several recording
sessions. It is turning out to be a significant, large scale project, and
we hope to have an official release later this year.
JULY 16 - 22 The 11th Annual LUNCH Summer Music
Camp at Camp Wightman
MAY 18-20 Bill and Kay are presenters and performers in
Dallas Texas at the Independent Music Conference
MAY - "High School My School" appeared on a
Sirius Satellite Radio podcast about High School experiences.
APRIL 29 -- Bill, Kay, and the Ensemble join
artists from the CT Songwriters Association to present "A DAY OF PRAISE"
at Groton Bible Chapel. This program will feature songs from the
compilation CD "Share the Journey".

MARCH 2006 HAPPENINGS:
The Ensemble put on another great show at East Lyme High
School on March 25. A significant amount of food and clothing was
collected for Care and Share and for the New London Emergency Shelter.

Bill was a presenter at the Connecticut Music Educators
Conference at the Convention Center in Hartford on March 24, and at the
Invention Convention at the Essex Elementary School.

FEBRUARY 2006 HAPPENINGS
FEBRUARY 20 -- LUNCH is featured in a 3-page article in the 100th
Issue of the national
music-scene magazine Intermixx. Check out this great feature at

FEBRUARY 11 -- Bill teaches a songwriting and music
business course at Western CT State University

WANT TO RECORD ON A
PROFESSIONAL CD THAT WILL BE DISTRIBUTED WORLDWIDE ?
LUNCH is seeking
female vocalists, ages 13 and up, to do lead and backup parts on our current
CD. If you would like to be part of this project, contact us right away (click
here to e-mail us). This will be a great addition to the
collection of CD's that we have released so far... |
In addition to a very full
schedule of events, we are presenting another season of "The
Mystic River Folk Concert Series", in Mystic,
with some nationally known artists, Anyone who appreciates good contemporary and traditional folk
music and family shows will enjoy this concert series. The events are $10 at the
door and will help support LUNCH's community outreach in the region.
