OCTOBER  HAPPENINGS

LUNCH at Wheeler High School Hunger Awareness Concert - OCTOBER 20, 2006

Joe Gray, Vice-Chairman of the Council of Elders of the Mohegan Tribe presents LUNCH with a $500 donation

Bill and Kay discovered a new instrument as they traveled in Vermont.  This Fire Organ is played by sticking blowtorch into the bottom of the metal pipes.  The sound is quite unusual,  but you probably won't be seeing one of these at a LUNCH concert anytime soon.

AUGUST - SEPT  HAPPENINGS

Bill and Kay  returned from Seattle, where they performed and gave a great songwriting workshop - and had the opportunity to hike through the forests of the Cascades with a stop at the Falls

LUNCH  hosted a Voices for Hope gathering on August 26,  and then on August 27, the Ensemble kicked off the the season, appearing at the annual outdoor CSA Showcase at JB Williams Park in Glastonbury, at 1pm

From August 31-Sept 4, Bill and Kay are in Philadelphia as presenters at the
4th annual Independent Music Conference.

On Sept 23, Nationally known  LUNCH artist Les Julian appears at Mystic River Folk, and will be joined by the Ensemble on some songs. Les appeared in the first 4 Chapin Legacy Shows, has organized several events of his own, and co-wrote "Give the Children a Tomorrow" and "Donkey in a Ditch" with Bill.

Bill and Kay were judges at the finals of the Voices For Hope Contest, sponsored by LUNCH and New Generations, in partnership with Brooklyn the Musical, and the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts.   The 15 finalists were an amazing group of talented individuals.   One of LUNCH's own members, Rachelle Seney (last kid on the right, back row) was one of the 8 winners.

Below are the 15 finalists with the professionals who served as judges.

Rachelle performed with the cast on June 25 at the final Hartford performance of the show.
In the cast was the legendary Melba Moore, and American Idol runner up Diana DeGarmo, who played the title role.

Bill and Kay are back from Dallas where they presented workshops and performed at a music conference. They also met some interesting folks who happened to be in town, who perhaps  heard that the 2006 LUNCH Holiday Show is "Christmas with the Super Heroes", and that Kay's next CD will include her "Wonder Woman" song.
